Senator Abiola Ajimobi, governor of Oyo State has called upon the expertise of Bank of Industry (BoI) to steer up industrialisation and agricultural development both in the state and nation. This took place during a courtesy visit by the BOI to his office in Ibadan,
Olukayode Pitan, Managing Director of BOI affirmed that N18 billion has been reached for the support through development of entrepreneurship, of the bank, in the state out of the N20 billion set aside for industrialisation support for the State, stating that support will continue for industrialization by the bank in the state. Olakayode said this while discussing the bank’s commitment to enormously support an all-inclusive economic growth in the State.
The call comes on the heel of the outstanding track record of Development Finance Institution’s (DFI) in giving technical and financial support to both sectors of the economy, he explained.
“BoI can be useful to us in terms of building capacities to support industrialisation while also training our people to become entrepreneurs and employers of labour rather than job seekers”, the Governor stated. He also expressed high hope of the state’s competitive and comparative advantage to drive agriculture to its land mass.
We believe we can work closely with the bank to develop agriculture. This is the way to go to achieve food security for the State and the nation at large. We will continue to encourage our people to go into agriculture. So, to develop agriculture and industrialisation in the State, our partnership is of paramount importance” he said further.
“We are here to know your area of focus and we also want to see that industrialisation and agricultural development continues to thrive in Oyo State. We have noted your giant strides in taking the State to its desired position and we are here to help you achieve that,” he said.
